It was during the cold, harsh month of January when we first visited the Knickerbocker Manufacturing Co. factory in Bushwick. We have a mutual friend with Dan & AJ, the guys behind Knickerbocker.
The factory itself blows you away as soon as you enter. They were lucky enough to take over this old large factory from a hat company that had been going for sixty years. We were fascinated to see the old machinery being used for new and exciting american-made products.
Knickerbocker hat maker and in-house apron expert Eric created our first two prototypes, and contributed a few of the very unique details that we wound up including, such as the easy-to-use brass back closure:
For production, the super talented Taylor of Domino New York took over.
We got our USA leather from a local shop near the factory in Bushwick, trims from Ohio, and fabrics from Cone Mill Denim in North Carolina, and Fairfield Textiles in New Jersey.
The finished products have been on a road trip to various pop up shops and trade shows all over the USA. Because of the success of this partnership and collab, JOBH & Knickerbocker MFG have decided to continue to work together on designing and producing more new and innovative products....check back to this space for the next round!
